Country Wash

Driving through the Somerset countryside one day, this scene was spotted, a collection of farm buildings quite grey and drab in colour and the white clean wash hanging out to dry. Country Wash is a favourite of many customers and was the most popular Limited Edition Print during 2006. Washing lines full of clothes drying in the wind feature strongly in many of the artist’s works and provide an almost endless source of imaginative paintings.

About the Artist

Peter Bowen R.G.D., BA, an accomplished graphic designer and professional watercolour artist.

His unique style of painting architectural subjects with humorous situations has earned him an international reputation during the last 25 years with much of his work in private collections in Canada, the United States and Great Britain.

Ideas for pictures often start as a collection of ideas of things that I have seen and I create a composition in my mind that I think would work. "Often I start sketching directly on to watercolour paper with a fine pen, letting the lines do the work and form the framework of the picture". Colour elements follow and start to bring life to the work. Shading and tonal colour adds dimension to the framework of shapes.
